2011 in Review

2011 started with us planning our move to Overland Park, KS. We left Humboldt County at the end of January and took a little over a week to drive across country. On the way out, we spent time at my parent’s house, Mark’s dad’s house in LA and his sister’s in Phoenix. It took us a week to get to Arizona (and only two days to drive the rest of the way).

Mark and I both started working the day after we arrived, Feb 7th. Prior to the move, I had accepted a job as and In-Store Assistant Manager with US Bank, it was kind of a shock to see how small the branch was! But I worked with a great group of people who helped to make the transition to Kansas a bit easier. In September, I transferred to operations where I currently work as an Operations Specialist for the Kansas City In-Store district.

I kept up with my bike riding this year and managed to log close to 1000 miles. I found a few different groups and people to ride with. I didn’t do any triathlons this year, but I did complete three 100k rides: Tour de Brew, Bike for the Brain and Tour de BBQ.

In April, we bought a house and even though it took a bit to get settled, we really enjoy our house and the neighborhood. Even with the headache the comes from moving, house buying and new jobs, we did go on a few trips this year. In July we went to NYC and I went home for Yia Yia’s birthday. In October, both Mark and I went home for my birthday, which was immediately followed by a quick trip to Portland for Aunt Donna’s funeral. In December we went on a cruise in the Caribbean and am enjoying that I still have a bit of a tan in January.

I’m looking forward to 2012 and the adventures it will bring.
